Just in time for Shavuot, 5756
Something there is about You that lights the spark in me, Is it Your timeless presence, or is it the way you make the wind blow free? Or is it because you remind me of the miracles that used to be? Or the faith that's linked our people thru 32 long-gone centuries? Thought I'd shaken the slumber and the confusion of my youth Sunny days in the hills of Nyack, walkin' up Highmount on Shavoot There was me & Rabbi Jeffrey, tikkun nights and the Book of Ruth Something there is about you that cuts right down to the truth. Suddenly in silence, I heard that still voice in me sing Don't have to chase no rainbows, You are the soul of everything I could swear to be more faithful, I could swear it from the bottom of my heart, But for me that would be slavery, and I've already played that part. Something there is about You, that gets into my core I haven't always followed each letter, but Ya know that I've always kept comin' back for more. You can judge me or you can love me, I'm just glad I'm not the one keepin' score Somethin' there is about you that makes kissin' a mezuzah feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door!
